{Summary}
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

I was not sure I was going to like this book, especially because I am not one for stories involving aliens (and the cover is hideous), but I fell in love.  Without having even finished the entire book, I bought the rest of the series.  This book is defiantly my guilty pleasure because it is so addicting.  It does not have the best writing, plot, or characters, but it was so good.  I read this book before I read the prequel novella (Shadows), which I highly recommend.  I instantaneously liked Katy and Dee.  Daemon does not make the best first impression, but he quickly redeems himself.  I loved the banter between Daemon and Katy…this book defiantly has some witty dialogue.  I kind of felt like the first book in this series felt a little Twilight-ish, but after the first book, it defiantly steered off that path.  There is nothing that I did not enjoy about this book and I would recommend this book to anyone. Please pick this one up, you won’t regret it!

If you are interested in the Lux series, I have some good news!  The Lux series (excluding the last book and the novella) are going to be re-released on June 3rd, 2014 before the release of the finale book, Opposition. They will have new covers and be released as bind-ups, with the first being Lux Beginnings (Obsidian and Onyx) and the second being Lux Consequences (Opal and Origin).  Pre-order these books from Amazon by clicking here and here.  You don’t want to miss out on this awesome deal.

  2. I liked your review. The only thing I'd say is that the word is spelled "definitely" not "defiantly. :) I agree with the other comment. Keep blogging :P I also enjoyed the book :P
