Shadows by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Lux #0.5)

{Review} Shadows by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

This is the only novella in the Lux series and although it is a prequel to Obsidian, I would highly recommend reading Obsidian first.  I just feel that if Shadows is read first, it gives away the mystery surrounding Dawson and Bethany that made Obsidian so good. I also think it is better to be introduced to Daemon in Obsidian, rather than Shadows. With that being said, I liked that this novella gives readers the chance to get to know Dawson and Bethany and their relationship before they “disappear”.  I liked that this book gave insight about how Dawson, Dee, and Daemon were before Obsidian.  I felt that this novella is a must read for the series, but readers can still understand what is happening if they choose not to read Shadows.
