"Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing 'I smite thee!' as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life."

For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards… and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.

According to her mother, that’s a good thing.

But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill.

The daimons have found her.

This was a great start to what I am assuming is going to be an amazing series (it is written by Armentrout after all!).  I think it was great to get to sample the series with a novella before fully committing to reading the whole thing and I guarantee that anyone who reads this novella will immediately buy the entire series after they finish.

Like always, Armentrout’s writing is great.  It is easy to read and very addicting.  I felt like there was amazing character development.  This novella easily sets up all the feels that readers will have to withstand in Half-Blood.  Being able to see the great connection between Alex and her mom was great and felt very genuine.  The novella was also a great way to introduce readers to the main protagonist, Alex, so that the first book was able to focus more on developing the plot and world.

Overall, I would highly recommend reading Daimon before starting Half-Blood.  It really made me excited to jump into this series with both feet!  I cannot wait to see where this series is headed!
