Book Review: Seeker by Tate James

Seeker by Tate James
Series: The Royal Trials #2
Source: Kindle Unlimited
Genre: RH Fantasy Romance

One quest. One crown. One shattered heart.

The Royal Trials were never meant to be easy, not even for an imposter like Rybet Waise. But nothing could have prepared her for the magical storms, mutated animals and malicious gods standing in her way.

There is no time for tears, mere hours after being bathed in Prince Alexander’s blood, Rybet must embark on a quest. The second trial dictates she find a missing magical artefact--Queen Ophelia's crown.

Released from the overbearing confines of the royal palace, Rybet competes not only with the other remaining ladies, but also with the land itself. Magic is more volatile than ever, and the gods have come out to play.

Royal love interests who don’t know how to share only make things harder for this dirty pond-dweller--if that’s really all she is.

Rybet will do whatever it takes to make it out alive, and with her heart unbroken.

Review

That cliff hanger from book one shook me to the core, so of course I had to jump right into book two to find out what would happen next & it did not disappoint. This series has got to be one of my favorite reads for 2019! It is just so good! The plot got even more intricate and more questions arise as crazy events occur. I can not wait to get my hands on book three because I need to know what will happen next. This book also ends on a cliff hanger, but thankfully there is not too much of a wait for book three.

Like I said above, the plot gets so much more detailed in this installment. I loved trying to figure out and piece together what was going on. I will say that some of the reveals in this book was obvious from book one, but there were still some twists that took me off guard. This book amped up the fantasy element, but again, not to such an extent that I had a hard time following what was going on.

Just like in book one, I really liked Rybet. She is such a spunky, independent character that wears her heart on her sleeve. I am also glad that it feels like her character is evolving and growing. The best thing about this book was the character growth in the prices. Their characters were expanded on so much and each one was unique and different from each other. I am glad that they did not all feel the same.

The romance in this book was on point! I just love everything about it, which surprises me. Honestly, if you would have asked me if I would like a RH book two weeks ago, I would have said no, but this book has opened up a new trope in romance for me to love. I do feel like it works because this is set in fantasy and is not a contemporary read. It also still feels a bit like of a love triangle, but I am interested in how this will play out in the end. I kind of want her to end up with all of the guys, but it is kinda weird considering they are all brothers, but I just can't decide who I like better. They are all amazing and they each have a special connection with Rybet that I absolutely love.

I just love these books! Everything about them is absolute perfection! I need book three now because this book also ends on a huge cliff hanger. I know that some readers hate cliff hangers, but lucky for us, the third book will be released soon and we will be put out of our misery. I HIGHLY recommend this series! It is so addicting and fun.
